Dermal Fillers
Versatile and popular
Dermal fillers are a great treatment for restoring volume, creating lift and adding definition.
Dermal fillers
As we age, we start to lose volume in certain areas of the face which can make us look tired and more gaunt in appearance.
This is caused by the body’s decreased ability to produce collagen and elastin. Unlike wrinkles which require muscle relaxants to soften them, facial volume and folds require a dermal filler to help add volume and hydrate the area.
Popular dermal filler treatments
These facial aesthetic treatments are very popular and can be used on a range of areas including:
-
Lips and cheeks
-
Tear troughs
-
Jawline
-
Chin and jowls
-
Nasolabial folds or laughter lines
-
Marionette lines
Boost volume safely without the need for surgery
Dermal fillers are a fantastic, non-surgical treatment to combat the signs of ageing.
They are composed of hyaluronic acid – a substance that occurs naturally in the body, and therefore very safe and effective. When carefully administered by a qualified, professional practitioner, the filler subtly adds volume to that area, smoothing out fine lines in the process and helps to restore skin to its former healthy, hydrated and younger state.
How do dermal fillers work?
By replenishing hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers can smooth facial lines and wrinkles, enhance the fullness of lips and cheeks, lift sagging skin, and refine the contours of the chin and jawline.

Dermal Filler FAQs
Here are some of the most common questions we get from our patients.
- Am I a suitable candidate for Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are commonly performed on patients over 35 who wish to reduce the signs of wrinkles, lines and premature ageing. They are also becoming increasingly popular with adults of all ages, for those seeking fuller lips and even as an alternative to surgical rhinoplasty to help correct minor bumps and deformities of the nose.
Dermal fillers are considered very safe, but they are not advised for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Also, people with acne may be advised to seek treatment to address this first due to an increased risk of infection with these types of conditions.
- What does dermal filler treatment entail?
This will depend on the area being treated and the type of filler that is being used.
All dermal filler treatments involve a series of injections being used on the target area. Depending on the treatment, some areas will only require a couple of injections, whilst others may need multiple doses. There will likely be some mild discomfort, stinging or burning during treatment. Most treatments last approximately 30 minutes.
- How long do Dermal Fillers last?
How long dermal fillers will last depends on the type of filler that is used for your treatment. Some filler, such as Hyaluronic acid, lasts for 6-9 months. Others, such as calcium hydroxyapatite, can last around 18-24 months, whilst permanent fillers can produce results of up to 5 years or more.
All results will be dependent on the individual and most fillers will require top up or repeat treatments to maintain results. During the consultation we will discuss with you the best product for your particular case.
- Does the treatment hurt?
Most fillers are injected through very fine needles which reduces discomfort as much as possible. It is also common practice for the area to be numbed using an anaesthetic cream prior to treatment.
Depending on the type of treatment you are having, and the thickness of the filler involved, this treatment may be a little painful. Thicker fillers, for example, are typically injected at a deeper level and can therefore hurt a little more than the thinner ones used for fine lines and wrinkles on the surface levels.
